Flossing Is Important – Make Sure You Do It Well
Do you make flossing a daily habit? Flossing provides dedicated attention to spaces between your teeth, and take care of any bacteria and food debris residing in these spaces that are hard to reach with brushing alone. This protects you from cavities in would-be vulnerable areas, and helps defend against gum disease. If you want the full benefit of flossing, you should make sure you do it effectively. Some people will consider their job done after moving the string back and forth when they floss. You should incorporate vertical motion, as moving the string up and down is required to fully clean these spaces. Remember that good, consistent preventive dental care at home, along with regular dental exams, can have a major positive impact on your oral health. (more…)
Quiz: Issues That Threaten Your Smile
Thinking critically about your oral care can help you recognize threats you may have been neglecting. Think about your daily practices. Are you brushing and flossing, or just brushing? How often do you take time to clean your teeth? Remember that keeping your mouth clean is meant to do more than just guard you against cavities – you should also be concerned about gum disease. Of course, great care at home still calls for other forms of help. Cutting back on your sugar intake means controlling your risk for cavities. Coming in for routine professional dental exams can help you stay informed about your smile’s condition – these visits also involve a professional teeth cleaning, which can help you prevent oral health issues from springing up. How Dental Bonding Can Help Address A Tooth Injury
An injury that leaves you with a tooth that is chipped or cracked can be a blight on your smile. People are generally not happy to have to show off a set of teeth marred by one damaged tooth. If you are after a solution to this problem, you should know that cosmetic dental work can offer a viable solution in less time than you may expect. By performing a dental bonding treatment, your dentist can cover up chips and cracks using composite resin. After the material is applied, it can be shaped to hide any real evidence of unsightly harm. (more…)
3 Worrying Issues Caused By A Missing Tooth
Sure, you would rather not lose any teeth, but is one missing tooth really capable of causing much trouble? The effect tooth loss has on your smile will depend on what tooth was lost. A lost tooth nearer to the front of your smile can have a frustrating effect on how you look. Your dentist can work with you on a prosthetic solution that helps you feel as though you still have your complete smile. In addition to improving how you look, the right prosthetic can help with functional issues. (more…)
Protecting Your Child’s Smile From The Effects Of Sugar
It can feel like every major holiday comes with a different batch of candy your child just has to have. Sugar has the capacity to do real harm to a person’s teeth. Regular daily care matters – unfortunately, children are less aware of how sugar might be affecting their smiles. Starting dental visits for your child at a young age allows your dentist to educate them on proper brushing and flossing, and to discuss the importance of preventing cavities. Limiting your child’s sugar intake is important – especially since kids tend to be reluctant to practice moderation on their own. You can give their teeth additional protection by making sure their smiles undergo good, routine cleanings at home, and are cared for regularly during a routine dental exam. (more…)
