Full Dentures With Four Implants

allen all-on-4When you lose most of your teeth, the gradual breakdown in the jaw that follows could leave your smile unable to support traditional implant dentures. Which is why your Allen, TX, dentist offers All-On-4®. This unique implant denture helps those with weakened jawbones enjoy a full smile without undergoing bone grafting or sinus lifts.

Dental Implants and Smile Preservation

When your body detects missing roots, it suspends the flow of calcium and phosphorus to the jawbone surrounding them. Without these nutrients, the bone tissue gradually loses mass and density. The resulting breakdown means further tooth loss, and even an aged appearance. By inserting dental implants, we stimulate the growth of the jaw to prevent this breakdown, and to also support new teeth designed to last for decades. However, if the breakdown is too severe, this could mean there isn’t enough tissue to support a traditional dental implant, let alone the six to eight needed to support implant dentures.

The All-On-4® System

Typically, patients without any bone tissue to support dental implants would need to undergo a surgical procedure known as jawbone grafting, in which new tissue is attached to the jaw to build it back up. However, with All-On-4®, we can often support a complete set of dentures even for those with weakened jawbones. This is because the system uses four small implants inserted at specific angles to support new teeth, and protect the jawbone. They’re smaller and more economical, making this a less intensive approach to securing implant options. Once they’re in place, in the same visit we can often attach a set of dentures. So you leave with a complete smile! The new teeth themselves will of course be custom-made to ensure a lifelike appearance, proper fit, and restored function for your smile.

Caring for Your Smile

Following placement, we would like to see you every six months for a checkup and cleaning, so we can monitor your new smile and your overall oral health. We may need to treat underlying issues like gum disease to protect the new roots from failure. At home, you will need to clean your smile regularly just as you did before. However, the dentist won’t need to be removed, and will be fixed in place to prevent slippage!

If you have any questions about how we support a new smile with as little as four implant posts, or if you have missing teeth and want to see if this is right for you, then contact our team today to learn more.
