How Aging Can Affect A Person’s Oral Health Needs
Your dentist wants to make sure that no matter your age, you have a smile you look forward to showing off. The basic approach to oral care can be consistent – keep your teeth looking good, and avoid cavities. That being said, the particular challenges facing patients at different stages of life can differ. Children’s dentistry can put a special focus on education, as younger kids can require guidance to form good dental habits. When those habits are instilled, it can be easier for them to go on and enjoy better oral health as adults. As patients reach their senior years, changes in your dental and overall health can alter their needs. It is important to remember that regular dental exams can help control issues that occur at any age. (more…)
Acknowledging The Severity Of A Dental Emergency
Some consequences of a dental emergency are more apparent than others. A tooth that is chipped, cracked, or knocked out can create a powerful sense of urgency. However, an injury can be serious even if it does not cause physical effects that are this visible. If you have internal damage, you could suffer sustained discomfort until something is done. Ignoring pain after an injury, or ignoring pain that develops without an easily identifiable cause, can leave your tooth without important treatment. Take a potential dental emergency seriously. Your dentist will prioritize your treatment if you need emergency care, so that you have necessary care as soon as possible. (more…)

If you have problems that need to be addressed, they can provide care and guidance on how to eliminate threats, and help you regain your best level of oral health. It is worth noting that if you take care to keep your teeth in top shape at home, this does not mean you can feel free to skip appointments, as you still receive important benefits from your checkup and professional teeth cleaning. 3 Things You Should Know About Receiving A Dental Filling
It would not be fair to say that your dentist informing you that you need a dental filling should be called good news. That being said, it is worth noting that this is the most conservative cavity treatment. The degree of decay you ultimately suffer before you undergo a restorative dental treatment will inform how to best care for your tooth. A filling simply replaces the enamel lost to that cavity – if you ultimately need a dental crown, your tooth will be completely covered. You can also be relieved to know that a filling, thanks to its being made from composite resin, will not adversely affect your smile. (more…)

Using A Dental Bridge To Deal With A Gap In Your Smile
A gap in your smile caused by tooth loss is more than just a problem for how you look. You can experience real functional problems when you attempt to bite and chew while avoiding a space caused by a missing tooth. Some patients can even have a harder time speaking naturally! You additionally have to worry about losing more teeth, as those teeth next to a space are more likely to be lost, too. A dental bridge offers a chance to close the gap caused by tooth loss. Because the bridge is held permanently in place, it can also help you enjoy better functional comfort. (more…)
Is Sleep Apnea Threatening Your Health?
Sure, your partner might complain that it keeps them up, but is your snoring habit really all that serious? If you snore because of sleep apnea, you should know that you do face real health risks without treatment. People who suffer from sleep apnea are periodically deprived of oxygen during the night, and that deprivation goes on long enough to force their bodies out of the sleep cycle. Those disruptions prevent your body from enjoying the full benefits gained through a full night’s rest. You may not remember waking up, but you can feel poorly rested, and struggle to stay alert during the day. People who deal with sleep apnea will also face potential health complications, including an increased risk for hypertension and heart disease. (more…)
A Painful Cavity Could Require A Root Canal
A tooth that is frequently painful or sore can be the result of a cavity. Unfortunately, that discomfort might be an indication that your cavity has actually progressed to the point that the living tissue within your tooth has become affected. This does not happen immediately – at the start, tooth decay forms on your enamel. If enough time passes without any restorative dental treatment to stop that spreading decay, the nerves and blood vessels within your tooth can eventually be reached. Stopping a cavity at that point calls for a root canal treatment, a procedure that allows your dentist to target a problem within your tooth. (more…)
