Not everyone’s dental discoloration stems from stains that have settled in their enamel. That type of discoloration, known as extrinsic discoloration, is common, but some patients will have intrinsic issues affect their smile. One possible cause is the way your tooth responds to a physical injury. Some people will find that their tooth looks dull after an accident. Unfortunately, a conventional whitening treatment will not be as effective in this situation. Prosthodontic dentistry can provide one of several different prosthetic dental options to restore your smile. For instance, if you receive a dental implant-supported prosthetic, you can actually protect yourself against jawbone resorption, a common problem faced by people who lose teeth. (more…)
The Trouble With Waiting To Restore A Cavity
We all go through periods in our lives where we feel like we are constantly moving from one appointment to the next. Unfortunately, cavities can call for prompt treatment, even when we are at our busiest. The approach your dentist must take to restore your tooth after a cavity will depend on your condition. If the treatment takes place while decay is still in its early stages, you can have your tooth restored with a dental filling. However, if your cavity has more time to spread, the decay can worm its way into your tooth’s pulp. When that occurs, you will need a root canal treatment. (more…)
Is It Time To Replace Your Toothbrush?
To ensure you enjoy the full benefits when you brush, you want a toothbrush that can effectively clean your teeth. However, your toothbrush will eventually wear down over time, and a replacement can be called for. It is normally recommended that you replace your brush at around three or four months. If so, it may be time to pick up a new one. Your veneers are intended to be a cosmetic improvement that lasts for many years. Taking care to brush and floss properly, and limiting items in your diet that might stain them, can ensure you enjoy that sustained improvement. (more…)
Identifying Unexpected Threats To Your Dental Health
Most patients will be familiar with common oral health threats. You can have a clear understanding of your oral health risk if you neglect to brush and floss properly, or if you consume an excess amount of sugar during the day. If you are thinking about what cosmetic dental work can do for you, you may already have a clear idea of how you want to look after treatment. Different patients will have different flaws holding back the quality of their smile. Of course, some patients will have multiple problems, and will hope to eliminate as many of them as possible with their dentist’s help. A dental bonding treatment can be effective against discoloration, but it is also a dependable means of taking care of damaged and misshapen teeth. (more…)
