Dental professionals are accustomed to knowing the benefits of teeth whitening, but that doesn’t mean everyone is sure about the process. Many times it is smart to be skeptical about things that sound too good to be true. If you are unhappy with your smile, but not sure if you want to take steps to lighten you teeth, maybe we can set your mind at ease. There are some questions about tooth whitening that we hear from curious dental patients. If you have other points of concern, we can address them at any office visit.
Will Tooth Whitening Harm My Teeth?
Professional whitening will not harm your teeth. Our at-home whitening treatment uses personalized trays (made from a mold of your teeth), and a safe gel that you apply at home, at a time convenient to you. There is no danger to your teeth or your overall health (although please let us know if you are pregnant.) While some people experience temporary irritation form the bleaching agents used in over-the-counter bleaching solutions, this is rarely the case with professional whitening gels. If you do have questions, you have the assurance of knowing we are just a phone call away.
Does Tooth Whitening Look Unnatural?
We will talk with you beforehand to make sure you and we are in agreement with how much whitening you can realistically expect. Our goal will be to make your teeth several shades lighter, and remove stains from food, beverage or habits such a smoking. Most people find that whiter teeth give a fresher, younger and more sparkling smile.
Is Tooth Whitening Expensive?
We will be happy to discuss cost at your consultation appointment. Dental insurance typically does not cover cosmetic whitening. We have payment options and can provide you with information on dental financing plans. We will let you be the judge of whether it is “expensive.” With thoughtful habits, you can maintain your whiter smile for several years. An attractive smile is something you can proudly share hundreds of times a day.
