Fillings

Mitigating Decay and Restoring Your Tooth

When dental decay targets a particular tooth, if left untreated, a cavity may form. Cavities are small holes that will continue to grow in size and get worse in severity until you seek restorative dental treatment. In mild forms of decay–in which a cavity has formed but the infection has not begun affecting the inner portion of your tooth–a dental filling may be able to prevent further damage and restore the health of your mouth.

Improving Your Smile with a Tooth-Colored Filling

When you come to our office for your dental filling, we will begin by numbing the area. We then carefully but thoroughly remove the infection and clean the cavity. After this, we fill the hole with a tooth-colored composite resin material, which we use in the majority of our filling procedures for its convenience and highly realistic finish. In special circumstances, the dentist may recommend ceramic fillings and we will discuss your options with you.

To prevent the spread of dental infection, it is important to recognize the signs and symptoms of a potential cavity. These may include:

  • Toothache
  • Pain
  • Sensitivity to hot or cold
  • Sensitivity to sweet foods and beverages
  • Visible discoloration or holes in the teeth
  • And more
